Oscars To Continue on ABC TV Through 2020

ABC TV will send the annual Oscar ceremonies until 2020, extending its current agreement for six years, television networks and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Thursday.

ABC, a unit of Walt Disney Co., have broadcast the Oscar ceremony - traditionally the most watched event non-athletes this year - the American public for decades.

"This contract ensures that the Oscars will be the traditional ABC for 45 consecutive years," said Academy President Tom Sherak, in a statement.

ABC Television Group President Anne Sweeney said that ABC has broadcast 46 of the televised annual honor the best films and performances this year we are pleased to announce that this tradition will continue. "

83. Academy Awards will air live from Hollywood Sunday.

Last year, the ceremony, seen by 41.7 million Americans - the largest television audience of five years.

Oscar has also been looking at millions of people around the world, a separate agreement with Walt Disney International, which runs in 2014.
