Blackpool Man United Match Called Off

Home game against Blackpool Premier League leader Manchester United was postponed Friday because of a frozen field.

The game, scheduled to be played Saturday was canceled after an inspection of the playing surface at Bloomfield Road by match referee Peter Walton.

Bloomfield Road has not heating the basement and stadium staff had used hot air blowers in an attempt to unfreeze the track after temperatures in the North West fell below 8 degrees Celsius to minus ( 18 F) on Thursday evening.

United went top of the league last weekend, but the former head of Chelsea and Arsenal have two points behind with victories exceed Saturday. Chelsea hosts Everton and Arsenal are at home to Fulham.

Blackpool is in 11 place on 19 points. The match was the first program of its first weekend of the league to be postponed because of the cold wave that swept the country during the last week.
