India is concerned about the condition of hitting opener Virender Sehwag and could leave the decision until the morning of his ability to quarter-final against defending champions Australia, skipper said Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Wednesday.
Dhoni said the team management would not rush a decision Sehwag is still recovering from a knee infection that has prevented the final group match against the West Indies.
“We will take a call this evening or tomorrow morning,” said Dhoni,
Sehwag could play a key role in the knockout game, in particular with Australia relying heavily on pace to get early wickets.
“It is always good to have Sehwag opening the batting because he can change the course of the game in five overs,” said Dhoni. “If the Australian bowlers are planning to bowl the short stuff at us, Sehwag is sure to hit them if there is anything wrong with their direction.”
