For beauty this summer, colorful ensemble is in. However, a shade or two is taken out of the list. There’ll be lots of yellow-colored toes and flip-flops, too. Some fun and creative nail art will also dominate the scene and the return of classic summer must-haves will grace faces – the likes of bronzer, bright colored lipsticks, and waterproof makeup.
Tangerine and other pops of shades for nails and lips like plums and greens will also be seen in trend for makeup. It’s time to update those closets and the ever essential cosmetic bag. Most importantly, it’s time to buy sunscreen ladies and gents. Buy something that is at least SPF50 and over.
To get the low down on these trends, here is a complete list of trends to discard for the summer.
Trends to Discard
Mid-length Skirts
Midi skirts, or below the knee-length skirts, doesn’t fit all body-types, but many women still wear them. Even the rich and famous wear them with less care, like the popular pleated and block-colored styles. It’s clearly outdated apparently. Such kinds have been last seen worn by some celebrities’ winter last year.
Leg Suspenders
In 2011, many fashionistas wore leg suspenders in attempt to look sassy and naughty. The outfit was provocative, but it was short-lived. This summer is the time to show off those legs in a sweet, but sexy way.
Feather and Chieftain-Inspired Headdresses
In the summer of 2011, many festival and concert lovers sported chieftan-inspired headdresses or topped off their outfit with feather headdresses. Read on, that was last year.
Star-spangled Ensemble
This summer, yellow will make a big comeback. With that, it’s not appropriate to add stars to the wardrobe. It’ll comeback as a trend later, but for now, it’s out of the question. Dolce and Gabbana’s 2011 autumn/winter collection were star-studded, but this year it’ll be different.
Minimalist Baroque
Baroque is still much very in today. However, to complement the ensemble, it must be layered accessories. Just don’t stick with it alone.
Painted Botanical Prints and Digital Florals
Like baroque fashion, this one will not go away entirely. It just depends on which print style is going to be used. Digital prints are not too cool, but painted prints are a big yes.
Silver and Grey Outfits
Because of the heat, clothes in silver and grey colors are too depressing to wear.
Boho
Perhaps to match the feather headdress or the chieftain-inspired headdress, many took it as acceptable to wear folk or boho clothes. Not really a problem when it’s cold outside. Just think of how sweaty leather would smell like.
60s Era Dresses and Full Skirts
In 2010 and 2011, full skirts and early 60s dresses made a huge display of graceful women on the red carpet. Largely attributed to the character of Betty Draper from the top-rating television show Mad Men, it has temporarily stopped designers from developing new creations. The trend has to be stopped as well, to showcase new designs.
All Twists and Shades of Orange
Celebrities’ list of style agenda has been shamelessly topped with this hue. From different kinds of accessories and clothes in tangerine to burnt orange colors, it still has that tangy appeal. However, it was last seen gracing the runway in anautumn/winter collection from the previous year.
From the cosmetic bag to the closet, this list pretty sums up the trends that should be discarded for this year’s summer fun. To look and feel great this summer, keep away from these trends and look for a more exciting wardrobe by exploring with other designs and styles.
